From "a Picture of Liverpool" published in 1834
This church is situate on the south side of the London road, Low-hill, and the grounds on which it stands was given by the Marquis of Salisbury. It is built with lancet windows, bewteen which are bold projecting buttresses: the whole is covered with cement, and ornamented with pinnacles and four large square turrets. It waserected by subscription, and is 87 feet long, and 53 feet wide, having pews capable of accommodating about 1,500 persons, of which about 500 are free sittings
