Inquests Liverpool Mercury April 10th 1818

 

On Monday week, an Inquest was held before T LEYLAND Esq. on the body of Mary PRICE, who was found drowned in the Old Dock Gut, on moving the vessels on Sunday afternoon week. It appeared that the deceased was a single woman, about twenty-two years of age, and had been drinking at a public-house near the Old Dock-gates on Saturday night, and until between one and two o’clock on Sunday morning, in company with another woman; they were both intoxicated, and as they were passing the Dock gates, te chains not being up, the other woman fell into the gut and the deceased fell in after her; but through the exertions of a man belongingto a vessel lying near, the woman who fell in first was got out without being much hurt –Verdict accidental

 

On Monday last, an inquest was held on the body of Robert GRIFFITHS, of Gilbert-street, who cut his own throat – Verdict  felo de se

 

Also on the body of James COOPER who was under confinement for felony in the House of Correction – Verdict Visitation of God
