Letter in the Liverpool Mercury April 14th 1815

 

The following letter speaks so very handsomely of the Master of one of our Liverpool vessel that we are induced to lay it before the public;-

 

H.M.S Hyperion, Plymouth Sound, 24th March

 

Sir- Having taken charge of the Oporto Convoy from H.M Brig Scout, on the 10th inst. When in a very critical situation, and brought them all in safety to their respective destinations, I cannot in justice omit to mention the great assistance I reeived from the brig Hope, of Liverpool, James SCOTT, master, whose attention in repeating signals and enforcing my orders, claims my warmest recommendation having no man of war in company and I request you will be pleased to make this known at Lloyd’s – I have the honour to be ,Sir, your obedient and humble servant
