On Friday last aged 71, Mr WOODS of Penketh, brewer – after a lingering illness, which he bore with manly fortitude
On Friday morning last, or the preceeding evening, Mr Joseph SMITH, aged 58, agent in this town to Messrs.HUSTLER and Co collieries, and a member of the Society of Friends. He was found drowned in the Prince’s Dock about five o’clock on Friday morning into which it is supposed he must have fallen in the fog on Thursday evening, as the place is entirely unguarded. No evidence as to the unfortunate event appeared on the inquest, and the Jury returned a verdict of “found drowned”
